OUTRIGHT INTERNATIONAL UK FUND

Every day, the human rights and dignity of LGBTQI people around the world are abused in ways that shock the conscience. The stories of the struggles and resilience often remain invisible – or wilfully ignored – by those with the power to make change. 

Outright International is dedicated to working with partners around the globe to strengthen the capacity of the LGBTQI human rights movement, document and amplify human rights violations against LGBTQI people, and advocate for inclusion and equality.

Founded in 1990, with staff in over a dozen countries, Outright International works with the United Nations, regional human rights monitoring bodies and civil society partners. Outright holds consultative status at the United Nations, where it serves as the secretariat of the UN LGBTI Core Group. 

One of GiveOut's first grants was to support Outright's Advocacy week in 2018. In 2019, we supported Outright's Arabic Media Project through our Amplifund partnership with GAY TIMES. In 2020, GiveOut supporter and Outright trustee Suki Sandhu held a fundraiser with GiveOut for Outright's work and to support LGBTQI activism in Asia. And in 2022, GiveOut partnered with Outright to amplify and fundraise for its LGBTQI Ukraine Fund, which has already distributed more than $1.6M to 39 local partners supporting LGBTQI people in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. 

To continue our partnership, GiveOut has established the Outright International UK Fund to enable Outright’s supporters in the UK to give tax efficiently to support the organisation’s work. We will pool all donations to the Fund to provide an annual grant to Outright.

The Outright International UK fund was established to enable donors to give to Outright International tax-efficiently or through payroll giving. GiveOut is a UK-registered charity, meaning you can add Gift Aid to your donation, and if you are a higher rate taxpayer claim full UK tax relief, increasing the value of your gift at no extra cost to you. If your company offers donation matching then you can donate through Benevity, Charities Trust or CAF, leveraging more funding to support LGBTQI organisations.
